American Idol - Mentor Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus must think American Idol and Alex Woo jewelry make a pretty good combination.

The last time Miley appeared on American Idol, she took the stage for the star-studded Idol Gives Back charity event wearing Alex Woo’s Little Star and Little Note. This time, the teen pop sensation returned as the season’s first guest mentor, wearing an Alex Woo Vida Cuff during her performance of “When I Look at You.”

The song, featured in Miley’s upcoming film The Last Song, showcased a softer side of the singer as she took to the piano for a powerful live performance. The film opens March 31.

Before performing, Miley spent time coaching the 11 remaining contestants as they prepared songs selected from Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits. Mixing encouragement with practical advice, she offered her perspective on everything from stage presence to finding unexpected moments in a song.

To Tim Urban, she offered two thumbs up, encouraging him to add more riffs and find ways to switch up his performance. She praised Lee DeWyze’s voice while urging him to strengthen his stage presence and surprise the audience with unexpected notes. And after hearing Crystal Bowersox, Miley was especially impressed by the gospel quality of her soaring high notes.

From Idol Gives Back to guest mentor, Miley once again brought her signature style to the American Idol stage, with a little Alex Woo along for the performance.
