Alex Woo wants to help the honey bees too
The designer has partnered with the Platinum Guild International to launch her first platinum design, a limited edition beehive and honey bee pendant that will help support the “Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees” program.

As honey bee populations faced the growing threat of colony collapse, Alex Woo joined the effort to help protect these essential pollinators through a special fine jewelry collaboration.
Working with Platinum Guild International and Emmy Award-winning costume designer Lyn Paolo, Alex created the Little Activist Beehive, a limited-edition platinum and fancy vivid yellow diamond charm with a diamond cut platinum chain benefiting the “Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees” program. The piece marked Alex Woo’s first design in platinum, featuring a sculpted honey bee and beehive accented with fancy vivid yellow diamonds.
“Being an avid gardener and loving nature as I do, it is a natural link for me to also love Bees. I think the partnership to raise monies for our wonderful tiny friends is an organic one and it was such a pleasure to work with Alex on this amazing project. Making it in Platinum makes it a special keepsake.” - Lyn Paolo
Proceeds supported honey bee research at the Harry H. Laidlaw Jr. Honey Bee Research Facility at UC Davis, as well as the Häagen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven, a bee-friendly demonstration garden on campus.
The Beehive became part of Alex Woo’s Little Activist collection, created as a meaningful way to wear the causes and beliefs closest to you.
“All my designs are symbolic so it was such a pleasant surprise that Lyn and I both shared the same interest in helping save the honey bees. This became our inspiration for our Little Activist Beehive. My fine jewelry collection is classic, personal, and wearable every day, so it was exciting to be creating this new pendant in platinum, as it still captures the essence of all my trademark Little Icons, but in a luxurious new way.” - Alex Woo
