Gracie Mansion and Mayor Bloomberg

At Gracie Mansion for a special event after Independence Day, Alex Woo meets up with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.  Gracie Mansion and its surrounding land hold an important place in the history of both New York City and the United States well before the House was designated the official residence of the Mayor of the City of New York in 1942.  But it was only in 2002, that Gracie Mansion was again restored and declared the “People’s House” by Mayor Michael Bloomberg with everyone being given increased access to the House.  Alex enjoyed a special tour of the mansion, admired the detail of the Compass Rose Motif on Trompe-L’oeil painted floor in the Historic Foyer and the cocktails and food.
