Lucky magazine did it again with NYC’s ultimate fashion experience! This was Lucky Shops 8th year of amazing deals and great shopping. With celebs like Bridget Moynahan, Stephanie March, Kaylee Defer from Gossip Girl and Abigail Breslin – it was sure to be a fabulous weekend of shopping and fun.
Everyone looked great, especially Abigail Breslin who was rockin’ the Little Rock Star Double Note 2! Alex was able to catch up with her, since the last time they saw each other at Super Saturday 14, as they both smiled for the cameras on the red carpet. The event lasted three days and saw 7,000 people total from 40 different states! I think it’s safe to say that everyone shopped til’ they dropped at the 8th annual Lucky Shops.

Tricks of the Trade
The only magazine devoted exclusively to shopping and style, Lucky provides women who are passionate about shopping with a broad range of the best styles and products out there–but a tight edit of the pieces that are worth a second look.
Offering real-life women advice on how to wear the latest trends in a way that’s flattering and right for their shape and size, it’s all about accessibility, and remembering that fashion is supposed to be fun, not stressful. In this month’s Lucky How-to feature with smart finds, figure fixes, styling tips and advice, Alex Woo provides a trick of the trade on cleaning diamonds.
“The simplest way to clean diamond jewelry at home is to mix a quarter cup of warm water with a drop of Method dish detergent (it cuts through oils, and it’s organic). Dip a soft toothbrush into the solution and gently scrub the piece, rinsing it with warm water afterwards.” – Jewelry Designer Alex Woo

5th Annual Lucky Shops – VIP Shopping Party
Leighton Meester and Jessica Szohr
At the ultimate shopping event featuring Lucky’s favorite designers and shops, host and Gossip Girl Leighton Meester with fellow co-star hottie Jessica Szohr stopped by to chat with Alex Woo and check out her latest collections (see photo left). Leighton, described by Lucky as “TV’s best-dressed new star” wore a cute one-shoulder black and magenta ruffled floral print dress by Marc Jacobs along with a pair of black Roman gladiator-style heels. Jessica sported a stylish black v-neck top teamed with a pair of black loose-fitting trousers and matching black shoes. Alex Woo added that “in person Leighton looks even more beautiful and radiant than she does on TV!”
Last year, over 10,000 shoppers (from 35 different states!) flocked to NYC to attend. All event proceeds go to the Robin Hood charity to support innovative poverty-fighting organizations.

America’s ultimate shopping guide and the only magazine all about shopping-trends, tips on where to get the best deals on clothing, home accessories and more, Lucky this month features one of our favorite young actresses.
As Lucky says, she is TV’s best-dressed new star and portrays a supremely put-together Upper East Side private-school girl on the TV hit Gossip Girl. In real life, however, the Florida native plays it more casual. “On a typical day, you’ll find me in a tank top, jeans, and flats,” says the 22-year-old. “Even when I’m getting dressed up — which is a lot these days — I make sure what I’ve got on is pretty and comfortable. That’s key.”
Some of the key fashions she loves are romantic dresses, perfume that can be worn every day and Alex Woo’s little letter necklace. Leigton says “I wear this lowercase L by Alex Woo on a long chain so it’s sort of hidden and I never have to take it off.” So whether it is on and off the small screen (her character Blair Waldorf also wears Alex Woo’s little letters B and W) Leighton Meester is quickly moving to the next level of stardom and her style is undeniable,

Four Girls, One… Silk Vest
America’s ultimate shopping guide and the only magazine all about shopping-trends, tips on where to get the best deals on clothing, home accessories and more, Lucky this month explores four stylish women and the possibilities of a “slouchy take on a tailored” silk vest.

When it comes to getting dressed, marketing manager Katie Alexander’s goal is to create the right ratio of masculine to feminine pieces. “I don’t mind anything that’s fussy or prissy, but I don’t want all of my clothes to look too hard,” explains the 27 year-old. “The combination of a cinched-in vest, blazer with big buttons, and snakeskin purse is very ’40s womanly, but the sturdy olive-colored pants and big leather boots are rugged. It’s cool in a risk-taking, Amelia Earhart sort of way.” Topped off with Alex Woo’s Chiara pendant, it makes a strong statement, but still seems low-key.

“In her job producing television specials and historical documentaries for the New York based film company Engel Entertainment, Dionne McCulloch has had to track down an exorcism specialist, find the best place to shoot a 16th-century reenactment, and ensure that 10 actors playing priests showed up to the set on time…” She says “wearing a big scuptural ring with a smaller, organic one looks so modern to me.” The smaller ring she is wearing is Alex Woo’s Sienna Ring and is one of Lucky’s “Our Obsessions” for August.

The magazine about shopping, Lucky this month reveals the new best things for 2006 style. From key pieces and trends of what we love, to the feature story on the ever-changing actress Mena Suvari who puts it all together — including Alex Woo’s jewelry.
In the exclusive, the talented young actress, that starred in the Oscar Award-winning film American Beauty, discusses how she wanted to work some new style tricks into her (already very cool) fashion repertoire for her New Year’s fashion resolutions. Wearing Alex Woo’s Zahrah Crescent necklace, she added that one or two pieces of quiet, modern jewelry can perfectly complement a romantic, ethereal dress which is flowy.
With tousled hair that is sexy without being overdone, the versatile actress also revealed that balancing a cascading necklace with a casual, worn-in tank creates that Hollywood glamorous-hippie-girl vibe.
Fun Fact: Mena was named after the “House of Mena” Hotel (at the base of the pyramids in Egypt) from her Egyptian godmother.
Previously featured in Lucky, have been Alex Woo’s super popular Sienna necklace and her deliciously oversized Dolce rings.

The magazine about shopping, Lucky this month discusses what fashion editors really wear, the season’s best coats, and a primer on fall’s freshest options, along with ways to wear them.
In the feature story about Alicia Silverstone, the actress discusses how to shop organic. With a passion for living in a way that doesn’t harm others, especially animals – she’s a vegan – and she wants to spread the word. “People who don’t share my environmental concerns think, ‘What a headache,’ but it gives me satisfaction when they realize they can find stuff so easily.”
In the “Lucky Jewelry Guide” feature, a whopping 11-page overview of the season’s most inspired designs from dazzling cocktail rings to elegantly embellished hoops, Alex Woo’s Sienna necklace is nicely noted as “a clean, minimalist classic that you’ll wear for years to come.”

In the fall feature extra, Alex Woo’s Dolce ring is featured to nicely compliment “the cardigan” and this attractive seasonal look.
