By Tanya Jensen

Alex Woo is becoming well known for her modern take on accessories. Using 18 karat yellow gold or matte-finished sterling silver with semi-precious stones, the powerful pieces pack punch but without compromising femininity.... Alex Woo has also designed a rose gold ring in memory of her mother. "At the age of 16 my mother passed away from breast cancer. I designed this symbol of remembrance for her as a way to help fight the disease. The design is inspired from the pink ribbons that symbolize the cause."

Jezebel - "The Gift of Life"
October 2005

Gifts of love, strength and hope for those affected by Breast Cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, one in every seven women - about 1.2 million worldwide - will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year. This startling number, but nonetheless accurate given the number of people who have been affected - in one way or another - by the disease. So in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, retailers from around the globe are donating portions of their proceeds to breast cancer awareness. The earlier the detection, the better the prognosis, so shop for your loved ones in the name of health. - KD

A statement of strength and love for those who have survived or are battling cancer, the Little Pink heart Necklace by Alex Woo is designed to remind wearers of the need to stay vigilant about breast cancer and the steps to early detection. As a permanent piece of Woo's collection, all net proceeds of the necklace will benefit the Women's Cancer Research Foundation for years to come.

Beauty News NYC - "Fighting Breast Cancer, One Heart at a Time"
August 2005
By Rebecca Goldberg

Alex Woo’s effort to join the fight against breast cancer started two years ago, with her debut of the Pink Ribbon Ring. The ring was in honor of her mother who unfortunately did not survive her battle with breast cancer.

To continue the fight, Woo has created the Little Pink Heart Necklace, to match her famous ring. The necklace, whose pink suede ribbon is fastened in a bow, can be adjusted to fit as a bracelet or anklet. On the ribbon sits a silver heart, which like the ring that came before it is meant to inspire hope and increase awareness.

Proceeds from the sale of Woo’s jewelry benefit the Woman’s Cancer Research Fund (WCFR). For more information about the cause, check out: http://www.eifoundation.org/national/wcrf/splash.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution - "National Breast Cancer Awareness Month: New wave of products keeps cause in the pink"
Wednesday, October 5, 2005
By A. Scott Walton

The fashion and beauty world moves into "think pink" mode in October to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Over the past two decades, the list of items sold to aid the cause has widened considerably. Now a diverse array of products --- including a $6 six-pack of Wilson golf balls, a special-edition George Foreman grill by Salton ($24.95) and a pink-faced Roadster watch by Cartier ($3,900) --- are available each year to raise awareness and funds for research. Articles about breast cancer detection and treatment also have become a mainstay in glossies. Shoppers who prefer a particular charity should have no trouble finding options. And new companies join the list each year... Jewelry designer Alex Woo created a Little Pink Heart Necklace and Pink Ribbon Ring. All net proceeds will go to the Women's Cancer Research Fund.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - "Fashion: Get pretty in pink for a good cause"

By LaMont Jones

Each October, more fashion and beauty brands help raise money to fight breast cancer by donating a portion of product sales to research and awareness efforts. Online and in select stores, Lady Foot Locker, Footaction and Champs Sports are selling caps and this matching T-shirt for $15 each, $5 of which will be donated to the American Cancer Society. This time there are unusual challenges: When the 21st annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month began yesterday, many Americans were already donating to hurricane and other disaster-relief efforts. And with gas prices climbing and the economy still shaky, charities and other nonprofits that rely on public giving are feeling the pinch. One way to meet the challenge is to appeal to people who like to shop and support a worthy cause at the same time. Here are some of the many products the purchase of which will benefit breast cancer research and awareness. Most items are available only this month and incorporate pink, or the signature pink ribbon logo, to denote awareness of breast cancer, which is projected to increase this year by more than 271,000 cases, overwhelmingly women.

Jewelry designer Alex Woo is donating all proceeds from sale of her Pink Ribbon Ring and Little Pink Heart silver necklace to the Women's Cancer Research Fund and the American Cancer Association.
