The Knot – Everything’s Looking Rosy

We would have to agree with the Summer Issue of The Knot, everything is looking quite rosy! We get a sneak peek of some stunning summer jewels in Rose Gold and the Narissa Crescent and Little Vegas Cherries were part of this dazzling story.

“Rose Gold is hot for baubles right now, and it’s not hard to see why. The rosy metal complements almost any skin tone, plus you’ll get quality and durability similar to white or yellow gold, only with a more feminine finish.”

What a lot of us who love this metaldon’t realize is that the meaning of this metal is a bit more sentimental: It means love. The color of these pieces adds just the right touch to their delicate designs.

Wedding Icon

Brides everywhere fell for Amanda Seyfried as Sophie in the film Mamma Mia!  With her ethereal gown and, of course, that hair she and Meryl Streep lead an all-star cast in the feature-film adaptation of the beloved musical that has been seen by more than 30 million people in 170 cities and 8 languages around the world.  Bringing the timeless lyrics and melodies of iconic super group ABBA to movie audiences, Summer 2008 was the season for Mamma Mia!

With her notable roles in film and television, Amanda Seyfried has quickly captured the attention of audiences and established herself as a breakout star.  Next month on February 5th, she will star in Dear John, a new film based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, best-selling author of The Notebook.  Recently, she was also in the film Jennifer’s Body written by Diablo Cody (Juno) but won critical praise for her starring role in HBO’s Golden Globe Award-nominated drama Big Love.

The Pennsylvania native started her career with modeling at the age of 11.  Seyfried soon turned to acting and landed her first role in the soaps with As the World Turns and then in All My Children.  However, her breakout role was in the Alex Woo favorite Mean Girls, the Lorne Michaels-Tina Fey hit in which she co-starred with Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams.  They won the Best On-Screen Team Award at the MTV Movie Awards the year it launched in 2004.

By ELLEN TIEN

“AS SPRING BREAK APPROACHES, the heavy metal of winter is temporarily being replaced by beach necklaces, delicate pendant necklaces that are the season’s hottest accessory for the bikini-wearing set. Worn on sand or in surf, the minibaubles usually have meaningful charms (inspirational engravings or lucky symbols) and are often studded with pavé diamonds.” Among the coolest items is Alex Woo’s jewelry.

“For those who prefer the luxurious over the spiritual, Alex Woo’s Vegas collection threads silver, gold or diamond-studded pendants on a sparkling ball-chain and exudes style in spades, not to mention hearts, clubs and diamonds.”

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2006

Sports Illustrated 2006With an All-Star Model cover featuring Veronica Varekova, Elle Macpherson, Rebecca Romijn, Rachel Hunter, Daniela Pestova, Elsa Benitez, Carolyn Murphy, and Yamila Diaz-Rahi – you know the issue is going to be a keeper. With 250 pages featuring 25 of the world’s most beautiful supermodels including tennis superstar Maria Sharapova, it really is mmm… for the three M’s who wear Alex Woo jewelry of course!

Molly Sims: Famous for being one of the hottest runway models, her photos have glistened in Victoria’s Secret, SI swimsuit issues and countless advertising campaigns for a long time. Known for being both intelligent as well as beautiful, she hosted MTV’s House of Style and in 2003, she joined the cast of NBC’s fast-paced and sexy drama Las Vegas in the role of Delinda Deline. Having also been in “Maxim’s Hot 100,” and finished a role in an indie called “Venus and Vegas,” it is only appropriate that she proudly wears Alex Woo’s Vegas Collection in Sin City for her photoshoots. Wearing both a “lucky 7″ from the Little Numbers Collection and a “spade” in many of the photos, what can anyone say but we’re happy she switched from being a lawyer to pursue a modeling career.

Marisa Miller: With a face that has graced the cover of magazines like Vogue, Fitness and Shape, it’s no wonder SI called her back for the 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 Swimsuit Editions. Born New Years Day in 1980 in the coastal city of Santa Cruz, California, she still says “The first thing I do every morning is go online to check the surf. If the waves are good, I’ll go surf. The beach is 10 minutes away.” In many of the photos, she is seen wearing Alex Woo’s Little Season’s Daisy Pendant.

Mallory Snyder: First spotted in MTV’s Real World in Paris 2003, this 5’11″ soccer athlete was born Jan. 7, 1984 and silenced all the dissenters with multiple appearences in Sports Illustrated and a clear sense of ambition. In several of the photos from her winter shoot in Huahine, Tahiti, she is wearing Alex Woo’s Daisy Pendant.

Las Vegas Weekly – THE CONSUMER: Luck Be A Lady

Las Vegas Weekly October 2005Alex Woo immortalizes Vegas with diamonds and gold
By Jennifer Henry

Luck is the four-letter word here. Just like Andrew Dice Clay’s favorite expletive, it too has its ups and downs. Good luck led a lost Rafael Rivera to an undiscovered oasis on the meadows of the Las Vegas Valley back in 1829. Bad luck exposed the unflattering late-night snapshots of your favorite celebutante’s drunken, quickie nuptials and post-party annulment.

We’re built on that unpredictable foundation and though everyone knows the house always wins in the end, adventure can be found in the thrill of risk and the possibility of reward for your wager. Lately, it seems everyone is trying their luck here. Vegas themes abound in every genre, film and TV have made the most of our colorful setting, the music industry has found its new Sodom and Gomorrah, and even high fashion is hot on Sin City references.

Alex Woo, it-girl jeweler for the fashion-forward, placed her bets on Vegasmania with her newest collection of super-sleek and chic charms. Her Vegas collection uses playing-card suits, crafted in her signature style: simple, subtle and enticing.

Vegas features clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades in silver, yellow gold, and best of all, white gold with diamonds. According to Woo, she crafts her designs to include “that exciting spark of what’s hot” without sacrificing the timeless quality that has brought her brand acclaim. The 30-year-old designer bet her handcrafted charms would embody the spirit of Las Vegas. A native New Yorker and a world traveler, she says of our dazzling city: “I thought that it captured the excitement of Times Square, but was just so much glitzier.”

Her collection of mini-pendants has already proved promising, catching the eye of trendsetting starlets such as Drew Barrymore, who layers Woo’s spade pendant with a “7″ in diamonds from her famed Little Numbers collection.

Dedicated to promoting personalized accessories, Woo delights in the intimate connection her collectors have with each piece. She cites the “great inspiration” she derives from knowing that she has “touched their lives in some small way” and hopes that “these lucky charms can make someone’s life a little better, a little happier, and even a little luckier.”

Ice Accessories, in Caesars Forum Shops, will be the first to offer Vegas in Las Vegas. As for lucky charms, I’ll take mine in diamonds.

Star Magazine – Star Style

Drew Barrymore Star September 2005Celebrity-Inspired Shopping Starts Here

Star Celeb Dream Item of the Week

“Drew Barrymore has Alex Woo’s diamond “7″ and gold-spade pendants company reps tell Star!”

In fact, the hollywood heavy hitting heiress, actress and producer Drew Barrymore has actually used Alex Woo’s jewelry in her blockbuster film “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” (2003). In the movie, two of the angels can be spotted wearing Alex Woo’s jewelry and Alex Woo ran a promotional contest “Who Wore Woo?” in support of the three women detectives, Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore) and Alex (Lucy Liu), that employed martial arts, tech skills, and sex appeal to overcome their suspects.

People – It Suits Them

People August 2005Is it a fluke that Drew Barrymore and Lindsay Lohan own necklaces from Alex Woo’s Vegas collection — or does it have to do with luck? Both. The actresses are currently working on films with “luck” in the title. Barrymore, who has a spade chain, just finished filming Lucky You, and Lohan, who wears a club pendant, is awaiting the release of her new movie Just My Luck. Coincidence? As a matter of fact, yes….

Jezebel Magazine – Luck Be A Lady

Jezebel August 2005One of Atlanta’s most prominent lifestyle magazine for sophisticated, affluent & professional consumers, Jezebel this month features Cole Hauser on the cover. A descendent of the Warner Brothers empire, this actor is living up to his family’s reputation and is best known for his role in Paparazzi. Similar to Alex Woo’s love for travel, Hauser admits “I feel like you can learn how to act in acting class and you can learn things in school, but the best education there is, in my opinion, is travel…”

In the fashion section, Alex Woo’s latest collection are singled out. “Celebrating the fascination for the hip, hot and vibrant Sin City, The “Vegas” collection from jewelry designer Alex Woo is lighting up the fashion scene. The line consists of small playing card icons elegantly sculpted in solid silver, 14 kt gold or diamonds. Put your money on one of these hot little numbers for the fall; it’s a sure bet. Prices range from $98 – $388, available at Potpourri or through alexwoo.com.”
