Elite Traveler – The Little Seasons Anchor

The Little Seasons Anchor remains firm and steady amidst any stormy waters in the Fall Issue of Elite Traveler Super Yachts Magazine. We are often faced with the “storms” of life but Elite has reminded us to stay grounded with the anchor.

Elite Traveler said it best, “With aquatic-inspired designs like starfish, sea turtles and tiny anchors, the latest baubles in Alex Woo’s Little Seasons collection allow wearers to keep the ocean close to their heart – even when they’re miles away from sand and surf.”

You’ll be able to imagine your toes digging into the sand as you think about sailing into happiness with the help of your anchor. Use this icon as a reminder to stay grounded and hopeful as new beginnings approach us.

Bon Appétit – Save the Bees

Bon Appetit 2009Bon Appétit readers are passionate, hands-on cooks who love being in the kitchen, entertaining, traveling, and dining out. They are interested in what’s new in the food world, as well as up-to-date information on wine, beer, and spirits. Today, Bon Appétit’s executive editor Victoria von Biel (aka the “Conscious Cook”) brings you a new buzz on keeping your culinary life greener, simpler, and healthier.

Here’s a sweet gift for someone you love: The “Little Bee” pendant, a joint project from Häagen-Dazs and jewelry designer Alex Woo, is designed to bring attention to the disappearance of honey bees in the U.S. due to colony collapse disorder.  Since bees are responsible for pollinating one third of our natural food supply, CCD poses a significant threat.

Ten percent of sales go to fund research into CCD.  The pendant is available in silver, gold and white gold with diamonds, and yellow gold with diamonds.  Plus, when you purchase a Little Bee, you’ll get a gift certificate good for a carton of Häagen-Dazs ice cream (maybe the vanilla honey bee flavor?).

BuZz into Bendels!

Haagen Dazs 2009To increase awareness of the plight of the honey bees, Alex Woo and Häagen-Dazs co-hosted an exclusive cocktail event for fashion, food and lifestyle editors at New York City’s luxe Henri Bendel’s department store, which took place on Wednesday, October 21st

Renowned Chef, David Guas, who’s also a bee enthusiast and the star of the Emmy-nominated PBS documentary Chefs A’ Field prepared all of the delicious “bee-friendly” hors d’eourves (yummy!) and created his signature basil-lemonhead cocktail.  Of course there was also plenty of ice cream, which is why Häagen-Dazs has been donating money to help figure out why this is happening.

At the event, Alex showcased a beautiful jewelry display which launched her newest addition to her Little Seasons collection, the Little Bee pendant.  Guests also had the privilege of viewing the designer’s most popular designs from her icon, fashion and fine jewelry collections.

Häagen-Dazs Help the Honey Bees

Imagine many of the world’s favorite flavors disappearing day by day. At Häagen-Dazs, more than 50 percent of our all-natural ice cream flavors are made with the help of honey bee pollination. The crisis facing honey bees is a crisis facing us all, and it’s time to help.

Chefs A’ Field: Disappearing Act
Imagining a World Without Bees

Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is a term first coined in 2006 for a phenomenon in which worker bees mysteriously vanish from a beehive. CCD represents a looming crisis for agriculture. Pastry chef David Guas knows how important the little worker bee actually is. He joins beekeeper Dave Hackenberg in a picturesque Pennsylvania apple orchard in full bloom to work with the bees and to discuss how they, and our food supply, might be saved.

Henri Bendel

One of Manhattan’s chicest shopping environments, Henri Bendel is a girls’ playground, where Bendel girls go to find the new and the next in accessories, cosmetics, gifts and fashion.  A New York icon, as familiar as the Flatiron building or the Plaza Hotel, Bendel’s luxury heritage and eye for the new have made shopping at Henri Bendel a rite of passage for elite young women.  With their signature brown and white striped shopping bags spotted swinging from the arms of stylish young women from around the world visit the store and be tempted with irrestible indulgences at every turn.

Marisa Miller: With a face that has graced the cover of magazines like Vogue, Fitness and Shape, it’s no wonder SI called her back for the 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 Swimsuit Editions. Born New Years Day in 1980 in the coastal city of Santa Cruz, California, she still says “The first thing I do every morning is go online to check the surf. If the waves are good, I’ll go surf. The beach is 10 minutes away.”

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2006

Sports Illustrated 2006With an All-Star Model cover featuring Veronica Varekova, Elle Macpherson, Rebecca Romijn, Rachel Hunter, Daniela Pestova, Elsa Benitez, Carolyn Murphy, and Yamila Diaz-Rahi – you know the issue is going to be a keeper. With 250 pages featuring 25 of the world’s most beautiful supermodels including tennis superstar Maria Sharapova, it really is mmm… for the three M’s who wear Alex Woo jewelry of course!

Molly Sims: Famous for being one of the hottest runway models, her photos have glistened in Victoria’s Secret, SI swimsuit issues and countless advertising campaigns for a long time. Known for being both intelligent as well as beautiful, she hosted MTV’s House of Style and in 2003, she joined the cast of NBC’s fast-paced and sexy drama Las Vegas in the role of Delinda Deline. Having also been in “Maxim’s Hot 100,” and finished a role in an indie called “Venus and Vegas,” it is only appropriate that she proudly wears Alex Woo’s Vegas Collection in Sin City for her photoshoots. Wearing both a “lucky 7″ from the Little Numbers Collection and a “spade” in many of the photos, what can anyone say but we’re happy she switched from being a lawyer to pursue a modeling career.
