This month, High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is on the cover of Seventeen and she finally talks about the scandal that made her sorry. As America’s sweetheart, she gets real and reveals that she is not exactly like her character, Gabriella, but is opinionated, confident, and actually very private about her life. She admits “It was very traumatic, and I am extremely upset it happened,” however looks on the positive side and “hopes that all her fans can learn from her mistake and make smart decisions.”

Born in Salinas, California, the daughter of Gina and Greg Hudgens, she is part Irish, Native American, Filipina, and of Spanish and Chinese ancestry. Home-schooled since after her seventh-grade year at the Orange County High School of the Arts, she starting acting at the age of eight, before reaching fame in the 2006 hit Disney Channel film High School Musical. Hudgens’ also released in early September 2006 a debut album, entitled V.

On the cover, she wears Alex Woo’s Little Letter V in diamonds. Fun fact: Her costar Ashley Tisdale also has Alex Woo jewelry and purchased Little Number 7 for good luck.
